Teach Yoga From a Foundation That Actually Means Something.

A 200-hour certification rooted in Himalayan lineage, studied entirely from home, and supported by real teachers who have been doing this for over two decades.

The ālaya wellbeing
Online Teacher
Training

There is a particular kind of student this training was made for. Someone who has been practising long enough to feel that yoga runs deeper than the mat, who wants to understand it properly, and who cannot simply walk away from their life for a month to do so.

This training was built around that reality. You study at your own pace, in your own time, guided by the same faculty who teach our in-person programmes in Goa and Ireland. The lineage is the same. The depth is the same. The only thing that changes is where you are when you learn.

Whether you intend to teach or simply want to understand yoga from the inside out, this is a serious, supported, and genuinely transformative way to do it.

A Word From the Teacher Holding the Training

Led by Yogacharya Lalit, ālaya Wellbeing’s trainings are rooted in discipline and relational practice grounded in lineage, delivered for the modern world.

How the Training Is Structured

This is not a course you click through on a weekend. It is a layered, supported journey with a clear shape.

Self-Paced Online Modules

The foundation of the training, delivered through our online academy. You have lifetime access to every lesson so you can study at a pace that fits your life without feeling rushed or behind.

Live Weekly Classes

Over 15 live classes a week on ālaya Yoga Online, covering every area of the curriculum. Join in real time or watch the recording. Either way, the learning continues.

12-Month Business and Teaching Coaching

Monthly live coaching sessions with Eveanna, running for a full year after you graduate, designed to help you build a teaching life that actually works in the world beyond certification.

Live Teaching Practicum

The opportunity to teach a real class to a real audience on ālaya Yoga Online, with direct feedback from your faculty mentor. Optional but strongly encouraged. Most students describe it as the moment the training became real.

What Sets This Training Apart

The Goa Teaching Immersion is suited for those ready to step away from distraction and engage deeply with practice and teaching.

The Same Teachers, Online

Every teacher on this programme is the same faculty who leads our in-person training. You are not getting a digital substitute.

Over 15 Live Classes Every Week

Learning online does not mean learning alone. Over 15 live classes run weekly on ālaya Yoga Online, covering asana, anatomy, philosophy, and Q&A with faculty.

The Chance to Actually Teach

This is the only online teacher training that gives you the opportunity to teach a real class to a real audience before you graduate.

Beyond Certification Support

12 months of live business and teaching coaching with Eveanna—covering student acquisition, pricing strategy, and sustainable offerings—because certification is just the starting point.

Styles of Yoga You Will Study

This 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training follows Yoga Alliance standards and is rooted in Himalayan lineage.

Signature Series Foundational Practice

Steady, accessible postures derived from the Ashtanga Primary Series and classical Hatha lineage to build strength, alignment, and embodied awareness. Inspired by Lalits Ashtanga study in Mysore and his Hatha studies in Rishikesh

Alignment-Focused Asana

Precise exploration of form, structural integrity, and therapuetic  movement principles- inspired by Yogacharya Lalits Iyengar study in Pune. Iyengar integrated

Vinyasa Methodology

Breath-led sequencing that links movement with rhythm, intention, and clarity.

Pranayama & Meditative Practices

Indigenous Breathwork and meditation to support regulation, focus, and subtle awareness.

What You Will Study

Rooted in Himalayan lineage and built to Yoga Alliance RYS-200 standards, this curriculum has been shaped over two decades to produce teachers who are genuinely ready, not just certified.

Asana Practice and Alignment

More than 40 essential postures studied in depth, with a focus on alignment, common misalignments, modifications for different bodies, and the use of props. Each pose is approached as a teacher would need to teach it, not just as a practitioner would experience it.

Teaching Methodology

Sequencing, cueing, class structure, adjustments, and inclusive classroom design. You will build five complete sequences across different levels and themes, and have the option to teach one of them live before you graduate.

Yoga Philosophy

The Eight Limbs of Ashtanga Yoga, the principles of Raja Yoga, and a careful study of the Yoga Sutras. Philosophy is taught not as history but as something to practise and live alongside everything else.

Anatomy and Physiology

Yoga anatomy essentials covering the skeletal system, joint function, spinal health, the muscular system, fascia, breath mechanics, bandhas, and injury prevention. Taught with a physiotherapist on faculty who brings clinical precision to the way anatomy is understood and applied.

Pranayama and Energetics

Breathwork, bandhas, chakras, nadis, mudras, mantra, and meditation. The less visible dimensions of yoga that, once understood, change the way everything else is taught and experienced.

Ayurveda Foundation

The doshas, daily routines, seasonal balance, and the relationship between Ayurveda and yoga. An introduction to the sister science that gives context to how yoga is practiced as a whole way of living.

Classroom Management and Ethics

How to hold space for diverse students, navigate challenging situations, communicate with clarity and care, and build a teaching environment rooted in integrity and inclusion.

Trauma-Informed Yoga

Understanding the impact of trauma on the body and nervous system, adapting cues and sequencing for safety, recognising student needs, and creating a space where every person feels seen and respected.

Yoga Entrepreneurship

How to build a sustainable teaching career. Marketing, branding, ethics in business, and how to expand your offerings into retreats, workshops, and online teaching when you are ready.

Great yoga teacher training! The anatomy section was super helpful, and the online anatomy teacher explained everything so clearly. The example classes, along with the adjustment and alignment guidance, were really useful. I highly recommend this training

I started with doubtful voices in my head but all of this knowledge and practice has quashed those doubts .I love the straight forward way in which the course is delivered. Don't wait, enrol today!!
Enrolling with Himalaya Yoga Valley was one of the best decisions I ever made! The course is so well thought-out and tutors are knowledgeable, encouraging and inspirational. The curriculum covers so much but is broken down into manageable lessons, which makes the online course so accessible to a busy, working mum, like myself...

Frequently Asked Questions

I have been practising for a few years but I have never taught. Is this the right place to start?
Yes, and in many ways it is the ideal place. You do not need teaching experience to enrol, only a genuine practice and a readiness to study seriously. The training is designed to take you from student to teacher step by step, and the optional live practicum means you can begin teaching while you are still in the fold and supported.
How much time do I need each week?
Most students who complete the training in two to three months set aside around eight to ten hours a week. If life is busier than that, you can take longer. There is no rush, and lifetime access to the materials means nothing expires while you find your pace.
Is the online training as thorough as studying in person?
The curriculum, the faculty, and the standards are identical. What changes is the format. Many graduates of this training describe it as one of the most rigorous and rewarding things they have done, and a number go on to join our in-person programmes in Goa and Ireland as alumni.
What are live classes actually like?
They are interactive, well-paced, and run across every area of the curriculum, from asana and anatomy to philosophy and Q&A with faculty. They run on a rolling 4-week schedule so you can join at any point, and recordings are always available. Most students find them one of the most valuable parts of the whole training.
Do I have to teach a live class as part of my assessment?
No, it is optional. But most students who do it describe it as the moment the training shifted from something they were learning to something they were actually doing. Your faculty mentor watches and gives you direct, honest feedback. We encourage it, but the choice is yours.
What if I only want to deepen my own practice and have no plans to teach?
That is a completely valid reason to do this training, and you would not be alone in it. You will still graduate with a 200-hour certificate that qualifies you to teach should that ever change. But there is no pressure to teach, and no obligation to do the live practicum or attend the business coaching if it is not relevant to where you are.
Can I register with Yoga Alliance after completing this training?
Yes. On completion of the programme requirements, including 30 live class hours, you are eligible to register as an RYT-200 with Yoga Alliance USA, the Indian Yoga Association, and the Canadian Yoga Alliance.
What happens if I fall behind or need to pause?
Your access to the course materials does not expire, and the live class schedule runs on a rolling 4-week cycle so you can pick it back up at any time. If you need to pause or are struggling with pace, reach out to the team and they will help you find a way forward.
Is there support available during the training, not just after?
Yes. Throughout the training you have access to live coaching calls, a student community forum, and direct communication with faculty. You are not studying in isolation, and questions are answered promptly by people who genuinely know the material.
What comes after graduation?
A community, a year of live coaching, internship opportunities, and a set of business resources designed to help you build something real with what you have learned. The support at ālaya does not stop when the certificate is issued. That is by design.
