After more than two decades of teaching and growing a global community of practitioners, Himalaya Yoga Valley is entering a new chapter. We are beginning a transition to a unified name: ālaya wellbeing.
This evolution brings together everything we do in one place, from our studios in Cork, to our teacher training centre in India, to our online yoga academy and digital studio. While the name is changing, the heart of what we offer remains exactly the same: authentic yoga teaching, rooted in tradition and shared with a global community.
Bringing Everything Under One Home
Our new digital home is now live at www.alayawellbeing.com.
The website brings together all parts of our organisation in one place, including our Cork studios, our India training centre, our Online Academy, ālaya yoga online, and ālaya pilates, which many of our Cork students already know from our South Mall studio.
Over the coming weeks you will begin to see our new identity appear across our websites, social media, and communications. During this transition, you may see the name ālaya wellbeing by Himalaya Yoga Valley as we gradually move toward the unified ālaya wellbeing brand.
Your Experience Remains the Same
For our Cork community, your experience at the studio remains exactly as you know it.
The teachers you practice with, the classes you attend, and the community you are part of all remain unchanged. You will continue to access classes and make bookings in exactly the same way as before, using the same systems and schedules.
What this change brings is greater simplicity in how our story and offerings are presented, bringing together our studios, trainings, and online platforms under one clear identity.
A Note From Our Founder
“When I first began teaching in Dharamshala more than 25 years ago, the vision was simply to share authentic yoga with sincerity and respect for the tradition. Bringing Himalaya Yoga Valley to Cork nearly 15 years ago was a very special step in that journey, and this community has become a cornerstone of everything we do. Seeing how it has grown over the years makes this new chapter especially meaningful. ālaya, which means home, reflects what this community has become for so many of us, and I’m excited for what lies ahead as we continue to grow together.”
— Lalit Kumar
A Journey That Began in India
Himalaya Yoga Valley was founded more than 25 years ago in Dharamshala, India. Since then, the organisation has grown to include teacher training programmes in India and Ireland, studios in Cork, and a global online platform serving students around the world.
For nearly 15 years, Cork has been an important part of that journey. Over that time, the studio has grown into a vibrant community of practitioners, teachers, and students who return week after week to practice, learn, and connect.
Seeing the community flourish has been one of the most meaningful parts of our story.
Looking Ahead
As we step into this new chapter, we are excited about everything that lies ahead.
Our summer schedule is approaching, including the return of much loved community events like Yoga in the Park, alongside new classes and continued growth of our studio community across Cork.
As we expand our network of studios and offerings, bringing everything together under ālaya wellbeing allows us to continue growing while staying grounded in the values that have guided us from the beginning.
Thank You for Being Part of the Journey
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of the Himalaya Yoga Valley community over the past 25 years, and especially to our Cork students who have helped shape the studio over the past decade and a half.
This new chapter reflects how far the journey has come, and the many places it will go next. Welcome to your new home: ālaya wellbeing.
